WHAT TO SEE + DO
Relax on the beaches
I specifically visited Siesta Key Beach during my trip but there are several other beaches nearby. I found this beach to be among the most convenient I’ve ever been for the simple fact that everything one could need is conveniently located. This comes in handy for those who have small children. There’s everything from a beach shop to a restaurant and a service directly on the beach that allows visitors to rent umbrellas and beach chairs if needed, which I did since it was hot!
Visit Siesta Key Village
This is a very fun spot for families. Here you will find everything from restaurants and bars to souvenir shops and ice cream parlors. At night you may find street performers singing songs and playing on their guitar.
Take a day trip to Sarasota Jungle Gardens
ADDRESS: 3701 Bay Shore Rd, Sarasota, FL 34234
Roughly 25 minutes from Siesta Key (depending on traffic) is Sarasota Jungle Gardens. This spot is especially fun for families with children since there is an outdoor playground, a variety of animals and reptiles and even an opportunity to take pictures with colorful parrots.
Try the seafood
If you’re a seafood lover like myself then you will enjoy Siesta Key as there are seafood restaurants all around town. A few of my favorites were Captain Curt's Crab & Oyster Bar and Lobster Pot Restaurant. The prices were also reasonable being that you are along the shore.
